Novel and film date announced on the same day
Scholastic announced Suzanne Collins's fifth Hunger Games novel for 18 March 2025. Hours later Lionsgate dated the film adaptation for 20 November 2026, with Francis Lawrence in talks to direct and Color Force producing.
Why it matters
The film was dated before the book was out. The campaign had a fixed date to count down to for almost two and a half years.
AnalysisThe desk did not find the Lionsgate or Scholastic release itself; dates come from Deadline.
