First full trailer premieres in a dedicated movie Direct
A Nintendo Direct devoted to the film premiered the official trailer. It showed a shrunken Bowser in captivity, a trip to space and new characters Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Nintendo and Illumination named Brie Larson and Benny Safdie for the two roles the same day.
Why it matters
Nintendo used its own game-news format to launch movie footage, posting the trailer on Nintendo of America and Illumination channels at the same minute.
