Moana opened to $43.1M in North America and $95.1M worldwide against a $130M global hope. Audiences gave an A- CinemaScore. Premium screens took 37% of the domestic gross. In PostTrak, 39% said they came because it looked fun and 16% because they are Johnson fans.
Why it matters
It was among the weakest openings for a Disney live-action remake, near Snow White and Dumbo, even though Deadline noted no controversy comparable to Snow White.
